Q: Hi , I have a few questions about the stainless bolt catch you have for sale (& I just purchased). 1. Is it made of 17-4 or 303 stainless? (Description doesn’t specify). 2. Is there any way to replicate the case hardened finish look on my part without damaging it? I was thinking stainless steel wire brush/acid to remove black color then toaster oven/ light propane torch for the case hardened look.

Made of 17-4 stainless steel. We do not recommend stripping the black nitride finish as it could affect the overall performance and function of the part. We found that case hardening didn't quite meet the rockwell hardness standards that the bolt catch required.
