Great muzzle
I have put this muzzle on several builds I have done. Works perfectly and love that I can easily switch the control shield to each gun.

This is an excellent brake . I have one on a Ruger PC charger, as well as an Extar EP9, I am extremely happy with the purchase. The Control Shield sent the blast down range without interfering with follow up shots. Mr. Hwang and his team provide excellent products with outstanding customer service. GREAT PRODUCTS and SERVICE!

Q:
Does this have to be timed? And In general do all compensators have to be timed? Think I read something about flash hiders don’t have to be timed but comps do.

A:
Yes, this muzzle brake will need to be timed. A properly timed muzzle brake will result in better accuracy shot after shot. A compensator or brake with the ports mistimed to the rifle will not only reduce its performance-enhancing effects but can actually be detrimental to performance.

We did not design our muzzle brake to hide flash and it should be acceptable in CA on a featureless AR but you will want to consult with a CA FFL that is 100% familiar with CA law and regulations.
